Glenn Canady’s Gorilla Website Marketing - more problems.

Picking up from where I left off, I was still slogging away at Zeus, just trying to get it to perform in a logical manner and get it to the magical figure of 100 keywords. I was having no luck.

I’d scoured the Zeus forums for help and applied just about all the tips that I could. I was still getting nowhere. I’d tried clearing it out and restarting from scratch, in fact I had tried just about everything and I was at the point of tearing my hair out with frustration.

It seemed to me that ABDevelopment had dragged things out on Glenn Canady’s Gorilla Website Marketing Course and I was now worried that despite all the extreme hours and hard work that I was putting in, it felt for the first time that I was the one that was the one that was the bottleneck on progress.

It was now the 30th December 2003 and I fired off another email to Vicky :

< ====== Start of Paste ======>
Hi Vicky,

I have cleared out the database, taken a copy of all the settings prior to this, and started again. I’ve gone through Zeus and got about 18 key word phrases before it couldn’t find any more. I then changed the keyword phrase in the EZ Keyword Trainer and have found that while it has kept the original 18 keyword phrases in the ‘very unique’ category, the ‘Keyword Smartness Rating’ is now back down at zero. It shows 0 single words, and 0 phrases. How am I supposed to get this up to 2/3rds when it does stuff like this ? I haven’t shut it down or made any other changes.

Chris O’Connor

< ====== End of Paste ======>

From what I could see the so-called ’smartness rating’ was actually pretty dumb. There seemed to be no logic behind the way it was behaving and I could see no way that I could achieve what I had been asked to achieve in the way in which I had been asked to do it. I had been at it and at it over and over and this indicator just kept going up and then going back down again !

Vicky replied :

< ====== Start of Paste ======>

Chris,

Be patient, what you wrote below is normal. Keywords you type in manually,
you must also type them into the EZ keyword training section to increase the
smartness rating. They do not read off of each other, and that is why it
says 0 in the smartness rating but 18 in very unique category on the bottom.
This is probably why you’ve been confused. Think of them as two completely
separate stages in the training. That is how the program is worked enter
them in manually, then EZ, but keep in mind once he is trained you don’t
need to do this step again.

Hang in there, you are doing great!

Vicky

< ====== End of Paste ======>

Now Vicky was a nice lady, but I really don’t appreciate being treated like I’m some sort of dummy !

If I point out that the thing I’m supposed to be getting up to at least 2/3rd’s is going up and then plummeting back down to zero for no good reason then I expect a sensible reply.

And if I ask what, if any, the relationship is between the keyword tally and the smartness indicator then again I expect a decent reply.

I never did get a decent reply as to why it was behaving like this. What got me was that she described the way Zeus was behaving as ‘normal behaviour’. Yeah, right !

I fired this off in response to Vicky’s email :

< ====== Start of Paste ======>

But Vicky, I *am* typing these into the EZ Keyword training section. Like I said, I cleared out the database and have started again. I am*only* entering stuff through the EZ Keyword trainer.

There are *no*keywords that have neen entered via the manual keyword trainer.

< ======End of Paste ======>

As you can probably tell, my patience was starting to wear a little thin by this point.

Vicky also fired off this to me :

< ====== Start of Paste ======>

Chris,

Use this for some help in between our sessions.

http://www.cyber-robotics.com/Seminars/index.htm

It is the link to the teleseminars that are daily put on by the Zeus programmers.

Vicky

< ====== End of Paste ======>

Now I know that Vicky was doing everything she could to be helpful, but I am not the sort of person who tries something and then goes running for help at the first opportunity. I had tried and tried with Zeus. I had followed the instructions to the letter. And, I had already signed up to the Zeus forums weeks before so that I could pick up tips and get answers to problem I was experiencing. So Vicky’s email added nothing of value.

So here I was. New Years Eve and I was still slogging away trying to get Zeus to do what it was supposed to do in the way I had been told to do it. Any chance I might have had of getting a break before I went back to work had long since evaporated. It had been 2 weeks of solid grind, working 15 hours+ a day. It was demoralising and depressing. I’d paid $8000 for this and it just did not seem to be working. I was doing what I had been told to do, but still it did not work.

I then received another email from Vicky :

< ====== Start of Paste ======>
try some of these words.

home remedies
herbs for women
supplements for women
hormone
estrogen
women’s sexual health
fertility
life changes
menstrual cycle
hormone balancing
fertility supplements

also try changing the order of the words, and mix them up a bit.

Let me know how it goes.

Vicky

Happy New Year!

< ====== End of Paste ======>

I was desperately hoping that Vicky had done a bit of research and come up with words that were going to kick Zeus into action. That these words were going to be the end of all my problems. Although I felt sure that I’d already used some of them.

Here was my last email to Vicky in 2003 :

< ====== Start of Paste ======>
Hi Vicky,

thanks for the keywords. I’ve been using these and managed to get up to
67 words. Two things bother me. First, I really feel that I am picking
words which are not particularly ‘on topic’ and are way too wide scoping
for my site. I feel I’m having to do this because otherwise I am never
going to get anywhere near the 2/3rds to genius level. I am concerned
that the further I go through this the more the words are drifting off
topic. Every time I click on the button to get it to bring up new words
I see the message saying that I should only be choosing words that could
only be found on the sites that I am looking for. More and more I feel
I am drifting away from this.

Secondly, even though I have only got up to 67 words Zeus has now
brought up a message saying training is finished and has not returned
any more words. I’m very concerned that if I click on the EZ Keyword
Training button it is going to lose the lot, and another day of my time.

I have attached a screen print for you to see for yourself.

Your advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Chris

PS. I hope I’m not ruining your New Year with all my problems.

< ====== End of Paste ======>

So that was how I ended 2003, still slaving away trying to get Zeus to work properly. I’d been told to keep my keywords very tightly focused, and that was exactly what I was trying to do. The results were rubbish. Christmas ruined, and now New Year. All thanks to Glenn Canady’s Gorilla Website Marketing Course and ABDevelopment.

October 22nd, 2004

I’m not responsible for Glenn Canady’s Gorilla Website Marketing Course - (Says Glenn Canady ! )

Yesterday I published the email that I had sent to Glenn Canady to formally request a refund on his Gorilla Website Marketing Course.

I’d spotted the following claim made by Glenn Canady and was about to put it to the test :

Canady is so confident in his methods, he offers a money back guarantee to all of his customers. “No one has taken me up on it yet though,” Canady says.

Was Glenn going to do the decent thing ? Was he going to live to up to his word ? Like hell he was !

Here is the latest exchange of email that I have had between myself and Glenn Canady’s people at Gorilla Website Marketing. BTW - I have NEVER spoken to Glenn Canady or had a reply from him personally. I’m too insignificant for him to bother with. He’s happy for me to pay $8000 to do his Glenn Canady’s Gorilla Website Marketing Course, but not significant enough to bother communicating with me personally. So, all the emails you will see from Gorilla Website Marketing are sent to me by someone called Traci.

Here is her reply to yesterdays request for a refund :

< ====== Start of Paste ======>
Chris,

We have already contacted you several times regarding this matter. Simply
put, you paid ABDevelopment for a job. If you do not feel that they
performed their end of the work or you were unsatisfied with their program,
you will have to take it up with them. We CANNOT issue a refund on money we
did not collect. They collected the funds for their program - we did not
collect the funds from you. We have tried to assist you with this matter
by contacting them for you. Doni emailed back with responses that she had
sent to you. We forwarded those to you to ensure that each of you were
receiving the detailed emails from each party. You need to contact Doni at
ABDevelopment to get this resolved, as we cannot issue you a refund since we
did not collect the money you are referring to from you.

Thank you,
Traci Roberts
Gorilla Website Marketing

< ====== End of Paste ======>

Let me make this clear. Doni Roebuck at ABDevelopment must be the ONLY person on this planet whose email fails to get to me. Every spammer, friend, business contact etc. manages to get to me. So how come Doni Roebuck’s emails never get to me ? Could it be because they were never sent ? (hint - I suspect the answer to that is a definite YES). I’ve mailed this woman a number of times and simply DO NOT get a reply from her. I have made Traci at Gorilla Website Marketing aware of this. She has clearly decided not to believe me. Thats up to her. And the ‘emails’ that she forwarded to me. It was ONE email claiming that other emails had been sent. What a joke !

Here is my reply to the above email :

< ====== Start of Paste ======>
Traci,

Sorry if you feel that I am being a bit dense about this, but could you explain
to me, how it was that I was doing Glenn Canady’s Gorilla Website
Marketing Course ?

That is what I was contacted about, that is what I signed up for, and
that is what I did. Glenn Canady may have subcontracted the work to
ABDevelopment, but that does not mean that absolve him from his
responsibilities.

Chris O’Connor

< ====== End of Paste ======>

I hope you see my point here. I was rung up as a result of buying Glenn Canady’s Gorilla Website Marketing ebook. Who had access to my telephone number which I supplied when I made the purchase ? Glenn Canady. When contacted I was told (on EVERY call) that they had been asked to call by Glenn Canady / were ringing on behalf of Glenn Canady / were working with Glenn Canady / etc. No other company name was ever mentioned to me and this whole thing was sold to me as initiated by Glenn Canady, driven by Glenn Canady, and for Glenn Canady’s benefit (he needed more testimonials for his web site).

Here was Traci’s reply :

< ====== Start of Paste ======>

Chris,

ABDevelopment did perform mentoring services regarding Glenn’s course, but
they are an entire separate company, performing separate services. That is
what I was trying to explain in the other email. We cannot give you a
refund on services you paid them to complete - mentoring services.

Thank you,
Traci

< ====== End of Paste ======>

So, Traci admits they did ‘mentoring services regarding Glenn’s course’. My next email to Traci was simple :

< ====== Start of Paste ======>
Traci,

So, am I correct in saying that the task of mentoring was sub-contracted
by Glenn Canady to ABDevelopment ?

Chris O’Connor
=============

< ====== End of Paste ======>

A simple question that I figured required a one word answer, ‘yes’ or ‘no’. A ‘yes’ would have been good enough for me.

But that would have been too easy, wouldn’t it ?

Here’s Traci’s reply :

< ====== Start of Paste ======>
Chris,

Glenn trained ABDevelopment on his methods/techniques so that they could
mentor our customers that were interested in paying for their services.
Again, you paid ABDevelopment to do a job for you. If you are unhappy with
the work they performed, you will have to contact them regarding obtaining a
refund since you paid them to perform the mentoring services for you.

Thank you,
Traci Roberts
Gorilla Website Marketing

< ====== End of Paste ======>

One very interesting point here, plus I don’t think Traci is paying attention to what I’m saying to her about ABDevelopment, as I pointed out :

< ====== Start of Paste ======>
Traci,

I think the key phrase you used was :

traci> so that they could mentor OUR customers

I never even heard the name ABDevelopment until after sign up.
Everything was done in Glenn Canady’s name. All work was being done ‘on
Glenns behalf’.

I was sold a course in Glenn Canady’s name, to be working with ‘Glenn’s
people’. I was told they were people who had been ‘appointed by Glenn’
and that at the end of it all I would be asked to be produce a
testimonial for Glenn Canady’s Gorilla Website Marketing site.

What I’ll do at this point is to pass it on to the relevant consumer and law
authorities in the US to let them come to a decision, based on the
weight of evidence that I already have, as to whether or not Glenn
Canady is responsible for Glenn Canady’s Gorilla Website Marketing
Course.

I’ve also been compiling a report for my credit card company in the UK
and this will be getting passed on to them on Monday.

Don’t bother asking me to contact ABDevelopment as I have already
pointed out to you that Doni Roebuck DOES NOT reply to my emails, whatever
she may claim. Besides, any issues with your subcontractors are your
responsibility, not mine.

Chris O’Connor
==============

< ====== End of Paste ======>

So, by Monday all the necessary people will have been contacted. I’ll let them decide if Glenn Canady’s Gorilla Website Marketing course is Glenn Canady’s or not (how the hell could it NOT be !).

Hopefully, by tomorrow, I’ll be back on track with documenting the rest of the disaster that was my experience of Glenn Canady’s Gorilla Website Marketing Course. Believe me, it gets a lot worse !

Glenn Canady - Can he keep his word ?

Today, I was planning on bringing this blog up to the end of 2003 and into this year. However, I spotted a couple of things today that made me think and caused me to change my mind.
Just by chance I came across an article about Glenn Canady and his Gorilla Website Marketing, which in turn led me to another posting about Glenn Canady. So I’m going to post a couple of snippets from these.

I can’t even remember how I came across this, but have a look at the following link : http://www.alexa.com/data/details/main?q=Video+Web+Log%3A+Tropisms
.org&url=http://www.buzzle.com/editorials/text8-6-2004-57558.asp

Just in case you have problems with the link I’ll post the relevant part here (Note - posted from the Amazon site, it’s the same as the Buzzle review, but has the date on it.) :

Be Warned, May 8, 2004

Reviewer: A customer
The website sounds great and the PR is fantastic but be warned when signing up with Glenn Canady. I paid US$4,990 for the Silver package in January 2004 to get to top 10 for my keyword and 100 links. After many months of wait and multiple long distance phone calls, Mr Canady still did not get the reciprocal links partners (RLP) up. He would tell me “next week” and it was always next week. Finally when the RLP were put up, there were 3550+ but none had any traffic. My website traffic did not improve and two independent programs showed only 16 ( not 100)RLP, as promised. When I complained, he was sarcastic and very rude. Worst of all, two weeks later, he had the guts to emails me asking for another US$2000 for 50 more links!! It’s an internet promotion, so be warned!! The person who sent me to him wrote my webcopy (US$6,000) which also did not get any traffic conversion. So I’ve been whacked duobly hard and wonder if there was a plan between the two. BE WARNED!!

< ====== End of Paste ======>

Well, well ! So it’s not just me thats unhappy with Glenn Canady and his Gorilla Website Marketing Course. If I’m reading the guys message correctly then it would appear that between Glenn Canady and his ‘partner in crime’ he gave them nearly $11,000 ! And, it looks like Glenn Canady’s Gorilla Website Marketing Course was about as useless for him as it was for me.

I don’t know who the guy is that posted that. He just signed himself ‘a customer’. I also don’t know why he posted his message to buzzle.com and Amazon of all places. What I would say though is that if you are that person then please feel free to contact me as I would be very interested to hear from you.

Following on from that posting I then came across a smug, self-congratulatory, look-how-clever-I-am, article about Glenn Canady.
Here is the url : http://www.buzzle.com/editorials/10-10-2003-46362.asp

The heading of the article is :
How to Make Your Internet Site Soar
Surfing the Net to Success - Glenn Canady, 39, of Rocky Mount, N.C., went from a dot-com casualty to a dot-com success in just a year and a half.

The bit I found interesting was the following :

< ====== Start of Paste ======>

Canady is so confident in his methods, he offers a money back guarantee to all of his customers. “No one has taken me up on it yet though,” Canady says.

< ====== End of Paste ======>

Really ? OK then Glenn Canady, I’ll take you up on it. I’ve previously emailed Gorilla Website Marketing about how bad the course was, and the fact that it has delivered nothing like I was promised. I’ve complained bitterly about it, but Glenn Canady doesn’t want to know. Each time I have been told to speak to ABDevelopment. I’ve emailed ABDevelopment a number of times and they never reply (although they tell Glenn Canady they did). Why the hell should I contact ABDevelopment anyway ! I paid to do the Glenn Canady Gorilla Website Marketing Course, not the ABDevelopment course. This course was Glenn Canady’s course and was done in his name, and as far as I am concerned HE is 100% responsible. Trying to weasel out and pass the buck simply is not going to work.

The one thing that struck me was that in my previous emails I had made it very clear that I was unhappy with the course and felt that in no way did I get what I paid for, or what I was led to believe I would be getting from the course. I realised that the one thing I had missed was a direct request for a refund.

Internet marketers always like to tell people that on their sales pages they need to make place a ‘call to action’. Well Glenn Canady, here is my call to action for you. Here is your chance to do the decent thing. It in no way compensates me for months and months of hard slog and wasted time. It doesn’t compensate me for having my Christmas ruined and the months of poverty myself, my wife, and my kids have endured, but my call to action for you Glenn is ‘PAY ME BACK MY MONEY’

Here is the email I sent to Glenn Canady today :

Hi,

I recently contacted you regarding the fact that I was extremely unhappy
with my The Glenn Canady Gorilla Website Marketing Course. I paid $8000
to do this and despite the extreme amount of effort that I have put in,
and the fact that I followed the instructions to the letter, it has been
a complete and utter failure.

I have already made you aware of the problems but you do not seem
willing to accept your responsibilities in this regard.

Please take this email as formal notification of my request for a refund.
I will wait up to 24 hours for your reply before taking the matter
further.

Thank you

Chris O’Connor

< ====== End of Paste ======>

OK Glenn Canady, now someone has taken you up on your money back guarantee. I want AT LEAST my $8000 back. Lets see if you can keep your word. Lets see if you can do the decent thing.
