Jeremy Cobb from Advanced Business Development contacts me

A few days ago I had an email from Jeremy Cobb at Advanced Business Development. He had spotted that my web site I developed with them as part of Glenn Canady’s course had disappeared from the top 1000 results on Google.

I haven’t got the time to cover our brief exchange of emails at the moment, but it resulted in Advanced Business Development making me an ‘offer’ of another few telephone sessions with them, providing that I first told the BBB that everything was now OK, and take down this site, BEFORE Advanced Business Development do a thing.

Yes, that right. They want me to tell the BBB that I am withdrawing my complaint about Advanced Business Development, and they want me to take down this site. All of this is before they have done anything. And what do I get in return for doing all this ? I’m being offered the promise of another few of the same telephone sessions that got me into this mess. Sounds tempting doesn’t it ?

I might have got taken for a mug once, but I’m not falling for it a second time !

I am prepared to listen to sensible offers from Advanced Business Development and/or Glenn Canady, but I’m not prepared to have my intelligence insulted like that.

I have made it very clear to Jeremy Cobb that whatever happens this site stays up. I will document in full what has happened, and what is happening. If they put things right then I will say so loudly and clearly on this site. I asked for a refund of my money, minus the cost of the things that I identified that they had delivered to me. They refused this.

As far as Jeremy Cobb’s offer goes, this is what I had to say :

You (and I mean you) provide what you are offering, BUT, the blog stays
up. I have documented the whole thing and will continue to do so. You
have my word that if I am provided with assistance that is worthwhile
then I will document that and tell people EXACTLY how good or bad things
have been. If I end up with a web site that is pulling in anything
like the sort of money that I was originally led to believe that I was
going to be making then I will go back to the BBB and tell them that AB
Development have resolved the issue. Basically, deliver what I was
promised and I’ll make sure people know.

I haven’t heard from them since.

Glenn Canady and AB Development updates due

I’ve got a stack of updates due for this site, including posting the emails that Glenn Canady (somewhat bizarrely) wants posted, and also a detailed explanation of why Jeremy from AB Development was wrong with the information he quoted on my site. However, I’m up to my neck in things at the moment and these are going to have to wait a few more days.

Glenn Canady, AB Development, and the email telling me it’s all a scam.

It was now the 16th March 2004. I’d sent my email complaining bitterly about AB Development and the failure of Glenn Canady’s Gorilla Website Marketing Course on the 9th March. I still hadn’t had a reply.

Obviously, I was getting more and more concerned. It really felt to me like they had just pocketed my money, given me eight 30-60 minute sessions on the phone and then left me high and dry. I hadn’t made a penny so far, and according to them I was supposed to have been earning money from my web site by the time my first credit card bill hit me, and my earnings would have paid off the full $8000 by within 6 months. In retrospect I realised that this was an impossibility. And now it seemed they weren’t even replying to my emails.

Out of the blue I got an email which seemed to be from Scott Dimmick. Scott was the guy who Advanced Business Development got to do the first 4 mentoring sessions, which were focused on building the web site (something I was already very capable of doing). I’d got on well with Scott and I was pretty shocked to read the email. It was sent to a big list of recipients. I assume these were all of Scott’s clients that he had worked with. I’m not posting the headers so as to spare the innocent from the spambots !

Here is the email I received :

Subject : weve all been scammed!!!!

we’ve all been scammed by the company’s that have been selling us
“products & services”….. they have sold us a bill of goods, taken us
to the cleaners and have hung us out to dry….. the salesmen are
liars. we must take action. if you feel like you have been lied to,
please file a complaint at www.ripoffreport.com or
www.badbusinessbureau.com……. the bbb will do nothing since these
companies pay to have a good record.

So here I was feeling that I’d been completely ripped off by AB Development and Glenn Canady. My emails expressing concern and demanding explanations were going unanswered and out of the blue I received this email purporting to be from Scott Dimmick, one of the mentors AB Developments assigned to me. From what I can recall, Scott was not an AB Development employee. I believe he had been drafted in by AB Development to assist with the mentoring. The email address on the email was definitely that of Scott’s from his other company.

As you can imagine, I was worried about AB Development, Glenn Canady, what was going on, whether I had been conned, and if I would EVER see the money they led to believe I was going to make. After that email my concerns were now going through the roof !
